The stranded Edro III

Still Sunday morning and we were just driving back from an early hike in Akamas but didn't feel like going home yet. Stopping at Peyia was an easy decision, so we could revisit the shipwreck and the sea caves, and recreate a selfie we took circa 5 years ago.
There are many banana plantations around Paphos, but I never really fancied wandering too deep into the 'undergrowth' as these are a favourite haunt of snakes and large spiders, and a furry tarantula is the last thing I need to dump into. Today however I took a brave pill and snapped a few pics for our Cyprus = Banana republic album.
Got back in the car unharmed and continued our journey to the sea front to the wreckage of Edro III.

Here come the selfies with 5 years in between:
The Sierra Leone-flagged EDRO III was a cargo ship, built in 1966 in Norway and ran aground off Peyia on 8 October 2011 in heavy seas, during a voyage to Rhodes, from Limassol. There are officially no current plans for its removal.
The sea eventually pushed and docked the ship at the shores and since then it's just another popular touristy spot.
I was planning to visit the sea caves too, but just as earlier, many jeeps and people appeared out of the blue, and I could see on hubby that he is going to melt in the sun at any minute, so in the end I didn't dare to suggest it. Instead, we walked around a bit, admired the view and the crystal clear sea, then hopped in the car and headed back home.
